Commissions can be the lifeblood of an artist's business.  They challenge artists to come up with new and exciting ideas. It's not always an easy thing to create something very specific according to a customer's desire, whether it is a painting, pottery, or a piece of jewelry.  And it's also not always easy to create something when given free reign, one of the highest compliments an artist can receive, with or without a budget.

Being a metal-intensive designer. I like to work the metal, blend different alloys (color, karat, etc) together, and vary the textures. With or without a stone, the metal-work says it all. It is the "display case" for any addition, and must have the ability to withstand time.
