crafted Works of Art… called Jewelry
PURITY: innocence, clean, genuineness, fairness, clear, unsullied...
Fine Art Jewelry... designed and manufactured out of "Pure Passion"… Meant
to last and be passed on…
This is what I "do". Jewelry made from "scratch". Metals are obtained in
granular form, alloyed as
18k… or pure for the 24k gold designs… the grains are melted, poured into
ingot form, rolled
into a sheet, or "pulled" for wire. Shapes are cut from the sheet and gently
formed,
manipulated and textured for various effects and adorned as design dictates.
Pure Passion! Rough-hewn… No additives... Non-GMO…
This Pure Gold and nearly pure Platinum jewelry is
substantially made… with heft, so one will have little fear of
breakage. When we buy items that we like and want them to last, we purchase
quality, and for some,
the thought of investment enters as well. Pure gold jewelry is perfectly
suited for this client
or collector… those who prefer to see a little of their investment "on
the cuff",
rather than tucked away in a safety deposit box.
Designing in pure metals presents challenges. Because of the softness of
both metals, designs must seriously
take the structure of the piece into account. How will the form hold up?
The top edges of the gold are left
as is - from the rolling mill, achieving a more "organic" look. The designs
may also show tool marks...
the artist's "fingerprint". Gem use is minimized to diminish their overt
quality, which can detract
from the metalwork and design, so as to highlight the richness and depth
of color
that pure metals exhibit... letting them stand on their own.
Perfection is not an option
18k Gold has it's own qualities. Still having beautiful
color, it also has a hardness that allows more design
flexibility. The "Footprints" series reflects a love of "footing it"… of
quiet natural surroundings. The
leaves, encircling the finger, and spiral "footprint" are hand-cut from
a hefty 2 millimeter thick
sheet of yellow or rose gold, again allowing investment options. Sometimes
a small
diamond is set in the big toe. The contrasting metals, with rose gold having
a
brightly textured finish, on top of a satin finish yellow gold is striking.
Pave diamonds…. Voila! "Diamonds on the soles of
her feet!"
Tending to minimize success, defined by publicity, it nevertheless is heavily
considered by buyers, galleries and
collectors. That said, previous lines of jewelry have been featured in
publications, such as Ornament,
Lapidary Journal, Niche magazine, and other publications. As designer and
manufacturer,
my primary focus is to create substantial, beautiful, hand-made fine art
jewelry, on a limited production basis.
Life isn't about doing what you love… it's about
loving what you are doing right now. |
